description | This thesis discusses about plural in Arabic based on the morphological
theory which closely related to morphemic and morphophonemic process. This research is aimed to describe plural morphemic process in Arabic involving 4 (four) components i.e. basic form, forming tool, grammatical and formation process result. This research uses descriptive method to make a systematic factual accurate description concerning its data. The data in this research is collected through correct reading and technique note method, and analyzed through interlingual equal and distributional method. An interlingual equal method is used to compare similarity of broken plural patterns conformity aimed to find broken patterns which mostly appear, whereas distributional method is used to explain components in process of plural through stage of data selection, data classification and data interpretation.
The morphemic process of plural from singular stem (mufrad) of rationalmasculine
proper noun released from t' ta'nīts marker and form of either synthetic or
predicative composition, or category of adjective indicating rational masculine identity
which is not structured by t' ta'nīts marker, or which shows elative form, or relative and diminutive form using affixation forming tool which involves (suffix) plural morpheme ww and nūn for nominative case, or y' and nūn for accusative and genitive case produces sound (regular) masculine plural and grammatical meaning showing more-thantwo number.
The morphemic process of plural from singular stem (mufrad) of feminine
proper noun, or each singular form marked by ta'nīts marker, or augmentative triliteral
verbal noun, or category of adjective specialized for feminine identity including elative
form, or category of adjective for diminutive and irrational masculine form, or arabization words which have no plural form, or category of quinqueliteral noun which plural form has not been known, or irrational noun which is placed after ibnu and dzū using affixation forming tool, or elimination and affixation (for singular stem with ta'nīts marker) which involve (suffix) plural morpheme of alif and t' in all cases produces regular feminine plural form and grammatical meaning showing more-than-two number.
The morphemic process of plural from singular stem (mufrad) of noun or
adjective either rational or irrational, showing both masculine and feminine identity using forming tool such affixation (ziydah), or elimination (tadzīf), or vocal modification (taghyīrul-arakah), or zero process, substitution (ibdl), or defection (ill) which involves several types of morpheme in the form of additive morpheme (ziydah letter), morpheme mutaaddidud-dallah (letter t'), nabriy morpheme (syiddah), and zero morpheme, produces broken plural form and grammatical meaning which show morethan-two number. The formation of broken plural, which is often based on hear-say (simʻi), can finally be compiled in a principle and pattern by the way of qiysi. The patterns of broken plural which can be a measurement for singular (mufrad) word in this research has been collected as much as 50 (fifty) forms, whereas the most appearance (mostly appears) pattern of broken in written data in the dictionary of Jamak Taksir (2002) is أ (af'lun) pattern which appears 856 times. |
