Summary: | Presence of mangrove forest is very necessary because it serve
ecological andeconomical functions to beach inhabitants� life. Mangrove forest
was damaged as result ofinhabitants� behavior to open embankment area,
fishing, and illegal logging due to bigdemand for wood products. Objectives of
research were 1) Assess the extent of damage to the mangrove forest ecosystem
of the aspects of land cover change in 2005-2010 due to aquaculture activities in
the village of Kuala Reefs. 2) Assess the community's participation in the village
of Kuala Karang mangrove ecosystem management that includes participation in
counseling and participation in the prevention of damage to mangrove
ecosystems. 3) Knowing the influence of level of education, knowledge and
incomes in the management of mangrove ecosystems in the village of Kuala
Reefs. 4) Formulate environmental management strategy in community-based
mangrove forest ecosystem.
There results showed the level of destruction of mangrove forest
ecosystem aspects of land cover change 2005-2010 in the form of aquaculture
activities in the village of Kuala Reef, which causes damage to the mangrove
ecosystem in which an area of mangrove forest area of damage in this case the
switching function of mangrove forests into fishponds for 372 ha, which is done
by investors from the village of Kuala Coral area. Most of the villagers of Kuala
Corals have this level of knowledge in the utilization of 62.20% and the
participation in the prevention of damage to mangrove ecosystems are classified
as being, in addition to this there are problems in land management pond that does
not involve local communities in the management of ponds. There is a
relationship between the level of knowledge, education, income, community
participation in mangrove forest destruction. The existence Invenstor from outside
the village of Kuala Karang mangrove forest that opens into the pond without
regard to the sustainability of mangrove ecosystems and the economic
