Summary: | This study attempts to examine income inequality of Indonesia for the period of
2005-09. Theil decomposition method is used to employ household consumption
expenditure data from Susenas survey. It shows that within-inequality index is
still dominant for the level of regions, provinces, and districts. There have been
some rich provinces and new provinces which experience high income inequality,
such as Papua, East Kalimantan, and Riau islands. Therefore, it needs to give
priority policy for within-inequality in Indonesia.
