| description | This study analyzed factors influencing the production and productivity of
organic and non organic rice and difference in net income between organic rice
farmer and non organic rice farmer in Sawangan Subdistrict Magelang Regency.
Location of the study is the centre for Mentik Wangi Susu organic rice cultivation.
Sample was collected using a purposive sampling technique with 60 respondents,
consisting of 30 organic rice farmers and 30 non organic rice farmers. The data
collected were analyzed by using a multiple linear regression method of Ordinary
Least Square (OLS) and Independent Sample t-Test.
Result of the regression analysis shows that factors significantly affecting
the organic rice production were farm size (positive), organic fertilizer (positive)
and seed (negative) with vegetable pesticide (negative) as dummy varibale, while
those affecting the non organic rice production was farm size (positive). Factors
significantly affecting organic rice productivity were organic fertilizer (positive)
with vegetable pesticide (negative) as dummy variable. Result of the t-test shows
that the average productivity of organic rice was 43.02 qu/ha, which was higher of
9.19 percent than the average non organic rice one of 39.40 qu/ha. The average
net income of organic rice farmer was IDR1,237,967 or 150.66 percent higher
than the average one of IDR493,887 in accordance with farm size of non-organic
rice farmer. The average net income of organic rice farmer was IDR4,315,722 per
hectar or 234.92 percent higher than the average one of IDR1,288,599 per hectar
for non-organic farmer. |
