movement (GWTK) is a business Jayapura Regency Government in empowering
people in rural areas. It is hoped the program could improve the ability of farmers
to manage cocoa farms, which in turn can increase farmers' income and welfare.
This study aims to determine the shape and outcomes of empowerment
through GWTK program. To answer this reseach purpose, then used a qualitative
descriptive method described transform and shape the process and outcome
empowerment of cocoa farmers in Imsar village. The data obtained were derived
from primary and secondary data. Primary data obtained from in-depth interviews
with key informants interviews based on guidelines, while the secondary data
obtained from various agencies that are relevant to this study. The informant is
determined as many as 25 people from three groups, namely government (3
people), community leaders consisting of traditional leaders (2 men), women
leaders (1 person), religious leaders (1 person) as well as cocoa farmers (18
persons) . Data analysis was performed descriptively, to describe the forms,
processes and outcomes of empowerment, as well as the role of the government,
cocoa farmers (farmer groups) as well as prominent community leadership
directly involved in the program Compulsory Planting Movement of Cocoa.
The results of the analysis indicate that the program has empowered
GWTK cocoa farmers in the village Imsar, the results of this program is to
increase revenue earned from increased production of cocoa beans, in addition to
farmers have been able to allocate the income he earned for other production
facilities that will be used in the next production process, other than that earned
income has also been allocated for other consumptive activities such as
penddidikan and some can be saved. The government, community leaders, cocoa
farmers and farmer groups, has been instrumental in improving cocoa farmer
incomes. The government plays a role in terms of the development of dry cocoa
beans network marketing, production facilities and technical assistance
cultivation. KUBE farmer groups, and bridging role to accommodate the interests
and needs of farmers by the government, especially in terms of access to
agricultural inputs and capital. |
