Summary: | The research aimed to develop the allometric models for prediction of biomass
and carbon stock of forests in PT SBK, to assess the suitability of previously
published allometric models that could be applied in PT SBK, and to develop
models of the forest biomass expansion factor and scalling factor in PT SBK. The
data were collected in PT. SBK, Central Kalimantan. The number of trees
sampled in this research was 23 with their dbhs range from 2 to 32 cm in the line
planting system and 17 trees with diameters fom 1.1 up to 115 cm in forest with
TPTI system. Destructive sampling was used to collect the samples. Carbon
content is typically derived from measurements by the method of Walkey and
Black. The most suitable allometric model is Ln Y = Ln a + b Ln X where
diameter at breast height (D), buttresses diameter (Dpkl), wood density (), stem
weight (Ws), and stem carbon (Cs) were used as predictors for total biomass and
carbon stock of forest. A comparison of above-ground biomass to previous
research report in tropical rainforests implies that our allometric models differ
largely from the general models. BEF models for forest with line planting and
TPTI system were 2.19 and 1.82, respectively. Scaling factor models
