Summary: | Background: there are about 3 millions of farmers in the developing countries get
pesticide poisoning and about 500 people die every year. The total of farmers who use
pesticides is 37.1% and 35% of the Indonesian farmers get pesticide poisoning. Based on the last research to the horticultural farmers that used the pesticide in Magelang regency,
it was found that 12% farmers got a enzyme functional disturbance, 54% got a high
enzyme functional disturbance and 34% got a medium-light enzyme functional
disturbance.
Objective: to know the factors causing the pesticide poisoning to horticultural farmers in Magelang regency.
Method: this research was an observational research which applied cross-sectional
designs and took a place in Magelang regency. The research population was farmers who used pesticide spraying and used 52 subjects as the samples. The sample taking used was systematic random sampling. The research instruments used were cholinesterase checking and questionnaires. Cholinesterase checking used Tintometer Kit with Edson Method. Data Analysis used was statistical test of Chi-square (x2) and logistical regression.
