Summary: | Background. Comprehension on students learning approach is an essential
issue due to the fact that it deals with the learning quality. Students
perception on learning environment is a factor that influences students
learning appproach.
Objective. The aims of this currrent research are to describe students
perception on learning environment, to describe students learning approach,
and to reveal the relationship between students perception on learning
environment with learning approach applied in musculoskletal block at
Faculty of Medicine Pelita Harapan University.
Method. This research was conducted using mixed method which combines
two approaches type. A quantitative approach was the main approach, while
qalitative approach acted as facilitatory approach. As many as 106 students
of musculosketal block FoM UPH participated as sample.
Result. Descriptive analysis showed that students good perception on
teaching quality amounted 77.36%, clear goals amounted 59.43%, and
learning ability acquired amounted 88.68%. Meanwhile 68.87% of sample
had bad perception on assessment and bad perception on workload
amounted 73.58%. Hypothetical testing done by calculating correlation and
odds ratio of each learning environment perception component to learning
approach revealed p value > 0.05 which was not statistically significant.
Qualitative findings showed role of internal motivation in determining learning
approah adopted by student. Internal motivation comprised interest in
subject, previous knowledge, and self-esteem.
Conclusion. Students perception of learning environment is not a predictor
of learning approach applied by student in musculoskletal block. Internal
motivation take part in determining studentss learning approach.
