Summary: | Lymphatic filariasis is a serious public health problem in llie world including in Indonesia. The number of
endemic areas increased with high incident and chronic patients. In urban areas, the disease is caused by filarial nematodes, called Wucheria bancrofi, and is spread through the bite of infected mosquitoes, especially the species of'Culex quinquefasciatus Say. Host-parasite relationship remains unknown, as well as the geographical differences of the vector. The objective of this research was to determine the genetic variability of mosquitoe vector Cx. quinquefasciatus from two filariasis endemic areas, Pekalongan District. Mosquitoes were collected indoors and outdoors by using "man landing biting" method andsweapnet. The DN A extraction from each single female mosquito was performed, and then the DN A was used as a PGR template with oligonucleotide RAPD primer OPA 11. The PGR products were analyzed by electrophoresis in 1% (w/v) agarose gel. The result showed 15 loci with 100% polymorphism.
