Description
Summary:
In attempts to find the biological activity of the organotin compounds we are working with, we here reported the synthesis and the antifungal activity test of some diphenyltin(IV) complexes, [(C6H5)2Sn(OOCR)2]. The title compound was prepared by the reaction of diphenyltin(IV) chloride, [(C6H5)2SnCl2] with the carboxylic or amino acids desired via diphenyltin (IV) hidroxide, [(C6H5)2Sn(OH)2]. The product obtained in each step was mainly characterized by the IR and UV spectroscopies. The antifungal activity test was performed against Fusarium oxysporum strain. The results showed that the inhibition zone shown by the title compounds were found to be broader than the free acids, the parent compound, [(C6H5)2SnCl2], and the intermediate product, [(C6H5)2Sn(OH)2]. The inhibition zone of each of the compounds tested was compared with the control where the fungi alone were grown in the media.
