| description | <p>Carbon components of sex pheromone consist of saturated and unsaturated which secreted by female cocoa pod bor Cronomorpha cramerella (Snellen). The saturated carbon is hexadecanyl-1-ol. Base on metabolic view, the component is derivative from another component with unsaturated carbon by long biosynthesis route. The Synthesis was approached by retrosynthesis analysis, in which hexadecanoate as precursor. Esterification is a suitable route of the synthesis, using a reagent, methanol, and sulphuric acid as catalyst. A conversion of the ester into alcohol was performed by reduction the ester using sodium borohydride. The result of esterification is 60,6 % and the reduction is 80,7 %</p> |
