Reaction mechanism was investigated by conducting catalytic<br /> hydrogenation of cis-isogenol. It was revealed that reaction steps were (1) eugenol (MW 164) was transformed to 2-<br /> methoxy-4-propylphenol (MW 166) and followed by isomerization reaction, (2) formation of trans-isoeugenol from<br /> eugenol was faster than cis-isoegenol (3) cis-isoeugenol was transformed to trans-isoegenol and (4) transisoeugenol<br /> was transformed to 2-methoxy-4-propylphenol.</p>
