Summary: |
Dynamic Freedericksz transition phenomena under external fields have been investigated using expanded
elastic free energy density incorporating elastic constant k24. Dynamic balance equations in liquid crystals are derived
using conservation of mass, momentum and angular momentum concepts. Results of the investigation showed that
reorientation time, Ton, of the director fi in the planar and homeotropic systems are affected by elastic constant k24
instead of kll and k22, while in the homogen system is remain unaffected by elastic constant k24.
|
