These granites are classified as monzo-granites which can be divided into two groups based on degree of magmatic fractionation (Rb/Sr). The group I occupies the samples from Menumbing, Belinyu, Tanjung Beriga and Toboali while the second one are the granites from Tanjung Raya and Mangkoi. The group I granites are characterized by low Rb/Sr and Sm/Nd, high Th/U, moderate Eu negative anomaly and are LREE rich while the second one show higher Rb/Sr and Sm/Nd, strong Eu negative anomaly, and are Y-rich. As a result, the group I show higher total REE contents (240-558.3 ppm), except the West Belinyul sample, i.e. 154 ppm whilst the total REE contents in the second group range from 152-303 ppm). This implies that REE in these granitic magmas are depleted with an increasing degree of magmatic fractionation.</p> |
