description | In electricity system, losses or electricity energy loss is one of the ways to
measure the efficiency of the electricity system operation. In this case, losses are
the received energy that is not 100 % as when it is transmitted. It shows losses
have taken place along the conductor. The length of electricity network causes the
voltage difference between the transmitter and the receiver points, the longer the
network, the bigger voltage difference is. It is as a result from losses that take
place in the network. The voltage drop often happens to electricity system with
limited capacity. Therefore, at certain times (during the peak load), the voltage at
the receiver point is lower, even over the minimum limit. The voltage will be back
to normal when the electricity load is reduced.
One of the ways to increase the efficiency of electricity power distribution
system is by conducting reconfiguration to the present network in order to obtain
smaller losses. Reconfiguration is the operation process of LBS switches (NO and
NC) to change the network topology to develop the network and guarantee the
availability and reliability of electricity power transmission so it can reduce
operation cost though with the same problems remain. Manual computation of the
transformer simulation of electricity power distribution system takes a long time
and high precision. Thus, software in computer simulation is used to help the
computation. One of the software is Electrical Transient Analysis Program
(ETAP).
Electricity energy of PT.PLN (Persero) branch Lhokseumawe is supplied
by Bayu Electricity Substation with 6 transformers where reconfiguration can be
conducted only to 3 of them to decrease power loss. From several possibilities of
reconfiguration lines, a few reconfigurations were finally made and then
simulated with software ETAP 6.0.0. The result of the simulation, which
successfully decreased power loss, was determined as the reconfiguration to be
implemented in Middle Voltage Network 20 kV. From those which produced the
least power loss, reconfiguration 3 was chosen, where load relocation line from
LK 04 and LK 09 transformers was moved to LW 06 transformer (Bayu Electricity
Substation transformer). After being simulated, power loss decreased by 0.7%. |
