Summary: | Domestic violence, especially to wife is still a dominant case among many
cases of abuses to women. For many years, wives are victim of domestic violence
and experiencing violence in an endless cycle of aggression. This research seeks
to find out the correlation between gender role (femininity, masculinity, and
androgyny) and self esteem, as predictor variables, and the dependent variable is
the assertiveness of the wife as the victim of domestic violence.
Subjects are 108 wives which are the victims of husband domestic
violence. Data gathers using assertive behavior scale, Bem Sex Role Inventory to
measure gender role, and Self Esteem Inventory to capture the dynamic of self
esteem within the subjects. Multiple regressions with dummy variable are used to
analyze the data.
Finding shows significant correlation between gender role (femininity,
masculinity and androgyny) and self esteem to assertive behavior (R= 0,781
