| Summary: | Essentially, propagation of Islam is an implementation of a faith
manifested in an activity system of faithful people in areas of social life which is
conducted regularly to influence the way of feeling, thinking, and acting of
people in individual facts and socio-cultural in order to realize the Islam concept,
rahmatan lil alamin. Nowadays the phenomenon is that Islam is discussed so
much related to various terrorist acts that occurred in the hemisphere. As if Islam
were a religion that allowed the terrorist acts of violence, bombings, murder in
the name of the truth of Islam. The terrorism actions make the image of Islam to
the world faded. Therefore, many scholars, clerics, and religious figures do not
accept these accusations. They argued that the acts of terrorism, bombings in
public areas are not characteristics of Islam concept. It is as the civilization that
had been built by the Prophet Muhammad in Medina by putting the foundation
of tolerance in social life, religion, and nation which is written in the Charter of
Medina.
This study is a literature review that identify systematically both at
discovery, analysis, and documents that can be used as information. Afterwards,
the author uses the theory of challenge and response, a theory that puts a
framework on a certain principle that the birth of a culture is the tendency of the
society itself. While response is cultural facilities that will be the answer to the
problems and challenges faced. This study also uses the method of Karl Jaspers
thought that states that a a history must be determined by the man, time, and
place. The approach used in this study is the historical approach that is in
collecting the past data and finding generalizations that are useful in
understanding the reality of history and current conditions.
Therefore, rhe research is expected as the references in understanding the
history of the missionary journey of the Prophet Muhammad in Medina who had
been putting the foundation of civilization as a benchmark of civilization and
glory of Islam, with regard to religious tolerance should be the parameters of all
mankind, especially Muslims as the center of the conduct propaganda activities.
Propagation was done by Prophet Muhammad in Medina by promoting values of
tolerance and humanity both in religion, nation and the state as stipulated in the
Constitution of Medina is a community foundation handles the creation of a
peaceful, tranquil, comfortable, and put forward the tolerance of diversity.
