Summary:The objective of the study is to -based rural road infrastructure provision with specific attention for social capital development at a community level in rural areas. Dimensions of social capital assessed are trust and solidarity, collective action and cooperation, social cohesion and inclusion, and empowerment. The level and dimensions of social capital are assessing through intensive interviews and observations focusing on twodifference community-based rural road infrastructure project in Kampung Laut sub district, Cilacap. This study uses the approach of management of infrastructure for community development. This research is beginning with the study of the outline plan of infrastructure development projects from infrastructure providers as an entry point to the make-an analysis. Then proceed with the identification of the location (setting) of the rural road development plan including geographic aspects, sectors of economic activity, and social situations. Then identify the response and adaptation of the communities and the remaining problems related to the sustainability of infrastructure development programs and infrastructure sustainability itself. The findings gave conceptual implications for understanding dynamics in harnessing infrastructure provision and integrating community-based approaches into social capital development process in infrastructure development policy and implementation level.
