Summary: | This research aims to identify and explain the environmental
impact of illegal mining activities, explaining the effectiveness of spatial
control of the regional government, and explain factors that influence the
effectiveness of these controls.
The environmental impact of illegal mining activities were
identified and described by the deductive method approach through
triangulation of physical changes variable soil and water pollution, soil
and air. The effectiveness of space utilization control described by
deductive methods approach to efforts to control variables (monitoring and
control), institutional, spatial control instruments (zoning
regulations, licensing, incentives and disincentives, and sanctions),
executive officers, and community participation.
The research discovered two important things. First, the
environmental impact of physical changes in the soil, and water pollution,
soil, and air are caused by mining and processing/refining of gold. Second,
development control mechanism are not working effectively because: (a)
space utilization control guidelines specified in NTB Provincial
Regulation no. 11 of 2006 difficult to apply in West Lombok Regency
