Summary: | Material Requirements Planning (MRP) is a technique for controlling the material
needs of dependent components. It has the goal of improving customer service,
minimizing inventory investment and maximizing the efficiency of the production
process. This study aims at analyzing and calculating the total cost of inventories
of raw materials if the selected MRP systemand Lot Sizing are applied.
The study used a descriptive quantitativemethod with retrospective data
collection. The material employed in this study is the data of pharmaceutical
product demand for one year from June 2009 to July 2010, structure product, raw
material cost, holding cost and setup cost. Data analysis was performed by
comparing the actual total cost of raw materials with the desired total cost of raw
materials using MRP method with lot sizing.
In this study we obtained from the production of pharmaceutical of class A ABC
analysis, product consisting of 70% alcohol 1 L, glycerin alcohol 1% 1 L,
povidone iodine 100 cc, and alcohol 70% 100cc and additional products in the
forms of glycerin alcohol 500 cc and povidone iodine 60cc.The results of analysis
indicated that MRP system with EOQ lotsizing and Lot for Lot could be applied
manually and could save on inventory costs by IDR.66,447,030.00 or 30% for the
EOQ and for MRP withLot for Lot lot sizing could save the cost of inventory by
Rp. 66,646,414.00 or 31%.
