Summary: | Background: Nutrition problem is a problem of developing countries including
Indonesia. Undernourishment and malnutrition in children may cause growth
disorder and susceptibility to diseases, particularly infection, and intelligence
retardation. Meanwhile, undernourishment in adults may cause less productivity
and deteriorating stamina, leading to disease prone. The result of nutrition status
monitoring in underfives at the Province of Kalimantan Barat shows increasing
trend in cases of undernourishment and malnutrition. So far the information
produced from nutrition information system is focused on data of prevention
program coverage, not on the condition of the region that becomes priority of
nutrition program and program that will be implemented.
Objective: The study aimed to develop a model of decision support system for
community nutrition program at Kalimantan Barat Provincial Health Office that
could help the process of decision making.
Method: The study used qualitative and quantitative method with action research
approach. Design of decision support system model was in the form of software
based on Excel. The study also used data flow diagram as an instrument to
describe ongoing system or system that would be developed.
Result: The study produced application model of decision support system in the
form of database development of growth monitoring of underfives, monitoring of
nutrition status, coverage of vitamin A, coverage of Fe tablet for pregnant
mothers and coverage of iodine salt consumption. Output of the system was data
of nutrition program coverage achievement in the form of tables, graphs, regional
priority and program priority presented in regional mapping.
Conclusion: The development of a model of decision support system in the form
of program application based on Excel that used data and indicator of nutrition
program at Kalimantan Barat Provincial Health Office produced information that
helped decision making related to nutrition program.
