description Province of Bangka Belitung Islands is one of the largest tin producer in Indonesia and produces an abundance of material from the tin mining waste. However for road pavement materials, local government of West Bangka Regency use materials from outside the island of Bangka, eg Java or Sumatra. This is in contrast with the availability of mine waste material that is abundant and untapped. This study aims to determine the material characteristics of tin mining waste and optimum compotition that is used in a mixture of AC-Base to stability and durability of a mixture of AC-Base for heavy traffic. This research was conducted by combining coarse aggregate from waste tin mines of West Bangka Regency as much as 80% with coarse aggregate of Clereng Kulonprogo District as much as 20% while the fine aggregate from waste tin mines of West Bangka Regency and filler from Clereng of Kulonprogo Regency. The study was conducted with 3 variations of the mixture, to variation 1 has 81% a mixture of coarse aggregate , 16% fine aggregate , filler 3%, variation 2 has a mixture of coarse aggregate 77.1%, fine aggregate 18.4%, filler 4.5%, variation 3 has a mixture of coarse aggregate 73.2%, fine aggregate 19.8%, filler 7%. Tests conducted in this study using the Marshall method and Indirect Tensile Strength Test. Based on the Marshall test, values obtained for the optimum bitumen content of variation 1 by 5.3%, variation 2 by 5.8%, variation 3 by 5.9%. Soaking in the index value of Marshall test for the variation 1 equal to 112.09%, the variation 2 equal to 113.56%, the variation 3 equal to 121.42% and the Tensile Strength Ratio on Indirect Tensile Strength test for a variation 1 is 103.82%, for variation 2 equal to 110.96% and for variation 3 equal to 113.90%. This means that the waste material from the tin mines of West Bangka Regency can be used as a AC-Base mixture. The most recommended variations for street pavement type AC-Base is variation 3 because its superior in terms of stability, durability and economic value compared with other variations.
