Summary: | This thesis discusses phenomena of glow of bureaucrats to
participate in regent election of North Luwu regency, South Sulawesi
Province in 2010. The glow of candidates deriving from active
bureaucrats of North Luwu government resulted in many problems. The
candidates might use bureaucracy machine to win the regent election of
North Luwu. This research aimed at finding factors making bureaucrats
self-nominate as prospective regent and vice regent in the regent
election of North Luwu regency in 2010. Question is: why the
bureaucrats self-nominated a regent and vice regent in the election of
North Luwu regency, South Sulawesi Province in 2010?
To answer the question, there are 3 (three) built theoretical
frameworks, these are: (1) motives of bureaucrat politics in candidate
issues, (2) bureaucracy and politic, (3) regent election and structure of
bureaucrat opportunity. Methods used in this research applied
verification methods to find answers through in-depth interview
technique, field observation and documentation study.
Findings of research indicated that bureaucrats did selfnomination
in the regent election of 2010 in North Luwu, such as: first,
they wanted to widen power
