PERBANDINGAN KADAR INTERLEUKIN-10 (IL-10) SERUM PADA WANITA PREEKLAMSIA BERAT DIBANDINGKAN KEHAMILAN NORMOTENSI

description Background: The major cause of preeclampsia is still unkwown. Imbalance of pro and antiinflammatory cytokines may partly involve in disease causation. Previous study has shown conflicting levels of IL-10. IL-10 levels have been shown to increase, decrease or unchange in women with preeclampsia. This study examines the IL-10 difference in serum with preeclampsia pregnant women compared to normotensive pregnant women. Objectives: To find out the IL-10 titer within severe preeclampsia compared to normotensive pregnancy. Design: Cross Sectional. Methods: Study population were third trimester pregnant women with severe preeclampsia and normotensive pregnant women in Sardjito Hospital from January to March 2008. IL-10 titer was measured from 5 ml aspirated peripheral blood which then placed into EDTA cylinder tube. The bloods pour in to serum separator tube (SST) and leaved for 30 minutes and then centrifuged for 15 minutes (1000x) and dispensed in -80ºC refrigerator. ELISA examination was performed as the last step. Independent sample T test was used for statistical analysis. Results: IL-10 in severe preeclamptic women was not significantly different compared to normotensive pregnancy (33.47±8.53 pg/mL compared to 35.64±12.73 pg/mL, p=0.48). Conclusion: This study found out the IL-10 titer within severe preeclampsia was not significantly different compared to normotensive pregnancy.
