Summary:Background: The high maternal and neonatal mortality in Indonesia caused most of the villages do deliveries at home assisted by a shaman, so that complications of labor can not be addressed comprehensively. Distribution and placement of village midwives are not evenly distributed in every village as well as the high villages not served by a village midwife services. This situation was a factor contributing to the high maternal and infant mortality in an area. Purpose: Knowing the relationship of the placement of village midwives toward the health delivery coverage in Konawe. Methodology:. This type of research is an observational research with cross sectional design. The study was conducted in Konawe. The population in this study was the village midwives working in Konawe who meet inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sample in this study was the entire population. Variables in the study include the independent variables (independent variables) the placement of village midwife, the dependent variables (dependent variables) indicator variables outside the scope of deliveries and midwives residence, length of work, service delivery facilities. Instruments used in this study is a questionnaire and a check list of research questionnaires, documents MCH programs, and medical record delivery. Data analysis with chi-square test and logistic regression, the ratio of prevalence with confidence intervals (CI) 95% with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: There is a significant relationship between the placement of village midwives, residence, length of work, and service facilities with the scope of delivery p = <0.05. There is a significant relationship between the placement of village midwives, home and long worked with the complications of childbirth p = <0.05. No significant relationship exists between the service facility with the incidence of complications of labor p => 0.05. Conclusion: The proportion of deliveries by skilled health care coverage was higher in villages that have placement compared with the village midwife who did not receive placements midwife. More dominant factors that impact on the coverage of labor is a factor of health care facilities. Factor of the old work of a midwife is more dominant impact on the occurrence of complications of labor Konawe. Delivery is the incidence of bleeding complications that often occur in births attended by midwives in Konawe.
