| Summary: | Earnings is the ultimate goal of every company. To determine the
proportion of earnings distributed as dividends which known as dividend policy is
still often regarded as a puzzle and a controversial policy because it relates with
investors� welfare and corporate interest. Because of dividends reduce the funds
available for investment, many market observers and investors associate high
dividend payout with weak future earnings growth. Several studies have been
conducted to determine the impact of dividend payout to future earnings growth
and some results are inconsistent with the conventional theory. This study aims to
analyze the impact between dividend payout and future earnings growth in
manufacture industry in Indonesia.
The objects of this study consists of 83 firms year which are listed in BEI
during 2004-2009. Research methods using multiple linear regression analysis.
The test result finds that dividend payout impacts future earnings growth
negatively, which is consistent with the conventional theory. |
