Summary:Development projects of information technology result to a very large cost, therefore the implementation must be guarded and monitored, starting from project approval up to its implementation stages. One role of guarding, monitoring, controlling and managing projects is Project Management Office (PMO). This study aims to learn the role of PMO in the management of IT Related Projects, and determine the maturity level of project governance processes, and role of organizational and project management environment that support successful implementation of the project. PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk has successfully implemented the integration of information technology as one of the stages that must be passed on the merger between Bank Niaga and Bank Lippo. To meet business goals and objectives, in addition to the stability of the system development of information technology continues, as reflected by IT-based projects that are running. PMO is a new phenomenon in the business world today, particularly for project-based company that has a different role or function in every organization. To see the role of PMO in the management of IT-based project, the research was conducted using qualitative methods to gain a deep understanding and get the whole picture regarding the role of PMO in the management of IT Related Project at CIMB Niaga, which refers to previous research. To determine the level of PMO maturity in project governance processes using a process approach to information technology governance COBIT was used. To determine the role of organizational and project management environment that supports the success of the project, judging from the level of management commitment, the level of level of accountability of those involved in the project, and project management elements that reflect the meticulous organization. The Results of this research indicate that the role of monitoring and controlling is the most important role of the PMO. Maturity levels of project governance processes are currently located on Level 3, or the process of governance has been defined precisely for the purpose of business and technical (defined process). Current level of organizational competence is in phase 2, or Basic PMO. For environmental factors and project management organization is a whole means to support the successful implementation of IT-based projects in CIMB Niaga.
