| description | Considering impacts of lahar flood event on settlements is prerequisite in land resource best-use decision within lahar-prone area mitigation practice. This research aims at evaluating residential development with consideration towards lahar risk analysis in Kali Putih region, Magelang Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia.
Research locus was defined using purposive sampling technique. Unit of observation was villages along Kali Putih belonging to lahar-susceptible zone. Samples were defined based on the degree of buildings� risk to lahar threat. As many 200 as respondents were involved in buildings� risk analysis and 30 public officers were involved in study of current mitigation degree to expand the result of risk analysis. Samples in risk analysis were defined using stratified sampling technique and data was attained from empirical data collection through field survey, observation, and measurement.
Risk analysis showed that 68% research area belongs to safe zone (no risk), 13% to low risk zone, 8% to moderate risk zone, and 11% to high risk zone. Gulon, Jumoyo, Sirahan, and Blongkeng Village belong to riskiest zone. Community perception on buildings� vulnerability to lahar threat was revealed influential to risk development, albeit low R2 emerged (0.111-0.237).
Area for residential development should adhere to safety and spatial planning criteria. Recommendation that residential development should be allocated into safe and or low-risk zone is presented. |
