| description | Background. One of identified risk factor for febrile seizure is the presence of family history of seizure. There is correlation between positive family history of seizure to the type of initial febrile seizure and age at first presentation. Many studies have reported that positive family history of seizure was correlated with increased risk of complex febrile seizure and earlier age at first presentation. Objective. To determine the correlation between positive family history of seizure to the type of initial febrile seizure and age at first presentation. Methods. This cross sectional study was conducted in January 2009-July 2010 at Department of Pediatric, Dr. Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta. Sample was classified according to family history of seizure, type of initial febrile seizure and age at first presentation. Statistical analysis was done to know the correlation between positive family history of seizure to the type of initial febrile seizure and age at first presentation. Result. 150 children aged 6 months-5 years who fulfilled inclusion and exclusion criteria were enrolled to this study.
