description Screw turbine has the highest efficiency in category of low head and high flow rate. Screw turbine also has several advantages such as easy in construction, installation, operation, maintenance, as well as fish-friendly. The research of screw turbine can be used to develop renewable energy resource for communities living around river in a remote area where the screw turbine can supply cheap electricity need. Design of screw turbine as the prime mover was focused on the slope of the blade angel to the axis that has variations 300, 450, 600, 750, 900, 1050 and 1200. The axis slope system has variations 250, 300, 350, 400, 450, 500 and 550. The flow rate used in this research was constant of 14.784 x 10-3 m3s-1. This research is conducted at Hydraulic Laboratory of Civil Engineering Vocational School Universitas Gadjah Mada. The result of data analysis show that the highest turbine power of 114.9 watt was obtained at the blade angel of 750 to the axis with the slope of 450 , rotation speed of 219 rpm and torque of 5.0 Nm. In this condition, the efficiency was 86.3%. The highest efficiency of 90.4% was obtained at blade angel of 300 to the axis with the slope of 400, rotation speed of 179 rpm, torque of 5.9 Nm and turbine power of 110.9 watt.
