Cybersecurity-based blockchain for cyber-physical systems: challenges and applications

Cyber-physical systems are increasingly connected to the Internet. This connectivity allows information to be fed back to them at ever higher and more distributed levels of abstraction. This increase in density, complexity and number of access points increases the attack surface of these systems. Bl...

description Cyber-physical systems are increasingly connected to the Internet. This connectivity allows information to be fed back to them at ever higher and more distributed levels of abstraction. This increase in density, complexity and number of access points increases the attack surface of these systems. Blockchain technology holds the potential for innovation in cybersecurity. This chapter elucidates different concepts where blockchain can be applied to cybersecurity in cyber-physical systems. The first section discusses the challenges and applications of blockchain in cyber-physical systems. Before going into depth about blockchain, applications in cyber-physical systems, and cybersecurity are discussed.
