description This book explores the connections between gender inequality and the climate crisis, arguing that global heating has a distinct and powerful impact on women, especially poor women of colour in the global south - those suffering most from a crisis that they have done least to create. At the same time, women are marginalised, if not actually excluded, from negotiations over climate policy at the leading international bodies and committees. Enriched by in-depth interviews with female climate activists around the world, it shows how radical intersectional campaigns led by women are challenging extractive economies and, through proposals for Green New Deals for Women, putting care at the heart of proposals for a gender-inclusive sustainable new world.
