Description
Summary:The effects of the geometry of a self-boring pressuremeter on the results that would be obtained from tests in clay have been studied by means of finite element analysis. This technique has enabled a parametric study to be carried out without the complicating factors of test variability that are inherent in field testing. The depth of the pressuremeter below the ground surface in a homogeneous clay deposit was found to have little effect on the measurement of the elastic strength properties, even for very shallow tests. -from Authors
