Description
Summary:This paper presents experimental results of using spatial and waveform diversity schemes applied to ultra wideband (UWB) short-range radars. Spatial diversity provides multiple views of the target, enhancing the content of information received. The use of waveform diversity scheme is compared with spatial diversity by transmitting different UWB signals from different antennas. An experimental and simulation study is presented, which claims a maximum of 13 dB gain in the target signatures with respect to a single bistatic radar. It is also shown that spatial and waveform diversity schemes acting together can possibly lead to further improvement in radar detection capability.
