Stability region for a class of open-loop unstable linear systems: theory and application

A method to calculate the stability region of scalar systems with one unstable pole subject to control limitations is derived and used to determine the conditions for a maximum stabilizer controller. A characterization of the controllers is presented and one such a controller, discrete adaptive near...

description A method to calculate the stability region of scalar systems with one unstable pole subject to control limitations is derived and used to determine the conditions for a maximum stabilizer controller. A characterization of the controllers is presented and one such a controller, discrete adaptive near-optimum controller called DANTOC, has been applied to a plasma vertical position control system on a real tokamak, the COMPASS-D. Results showed the superiority of maximum stabilizers over constrained P+D controllers.
