Crynodeb:This chapter explores the range of actors and expertise involved in the innovation of energy communities. Building on recent work that identifies a wide range of business model archetypes, the chapter examines the extent to which single actors create, deliver and capture value by themselves. It explores three ideal-typical governance arrangements – characterised by the idea of doing it yourself, forming an alliance, or someone else doing it for you – to investigate how the actors and expertise involved facilitate the realisation of different archetypes. It subsequently demonstrates how some archetypes require a combination of actors and expertise.
