সংক্ষিপ্ত:The world’s growing demand for energy and a desire to diversify sources of energy has driven demand for natural gas. This issue of Forum looks closely at recent regional demand and supply developments: the greater flexibility of natural gas trade following the rapid growth in LNG trade over the past 20 years, allowing the emergence of major consumer markets in East- and South-East Asia; the development of hubs for spot trade in North America and Europe, allowing for a rethink of the traditional price link of contracted gas to oil or other energy prices in this part of the world; and recent technology breakthroughs in the area of unconventional gas, which may yet redefine the import and export market, most immediately the USA.
