Summary: | High-resolution threshold-ionization spectroscopy and photoionization mass spectrometry has provided new information on the X̃→X̃+ photionization dynamics of NH3 and on the energy level structure of NH3+. Next to providing a new, accurate value for the first adiabatic ionization potential of NH3 the high-resolution achieved has enabled to distinguish between transitions originating from distinct tunneling components of the ground-state levels and thus to unambiguously determine the parity of the photoelectron partial waves. In addition, the high resolution has also enabled the measurement of the spin-rotational splittings of the ionic rotational levels. |
