Nitro group reduction with in situN-Boc protection and THP* removal provides alpha,beta-disubstituted ethanolamine derivatives, while treatment with tetrapropylammonium perruthenate gives THP* protected alpha-hydroxy ketone derivatives in high diasteromeric excess. |
