description The Internet of Things (IoT) is comprised of a continuously changing, wide range of products and technologies. An environment that has seen an in ux of IoT technologies is in the home; appliances such as door locks, lights and plug sockets are now connecting to the Internet. Naturally, this raises concerns about security and privacy of the home and those who reside within it. This report considers how such issues might be tackled from a topology and infrastructure point of view, speci cally at the network and application layers. It also surveys current technologies, and potential lessons from enterprise networks with respect to the smart home scenario. Finally, the report proposes a direction for research into a dynamic network segmentation approach to securing the home network.
