description This paper reports a vector network analyzer based wideband radio channel measurement system that is configured for dual channel reception and employs an RF over fibre link to allow remote siting of the transmit antenna. A synthetic volume aperture is used to provide a full wave description of the channel and thus allow identification of multipath angle of arrival. The system is aimed at characterizing indoor, indoor-outdoor and short range outdoor environments. Some results from an indoor-outdoor study pertaining to the behaviour of a W-CDMA system are presented to illustrate the power and versatility of the measurement technique.
