particular attention to the dialogue between Dante-pilgrim and the Florentines, the medieval categorization of sodomy and its biblical and theological contexts, and the role of prophecy in the canto. Commentary is also provided on the major similes, metaphors and symbols in the canto, with attention to both classical and biblical analogues. |
