Description
Summary:Resonance-enhanced photoionization for isotope-selective loading of calcium ion trapping was investigated. Trapping of all th enaturally occuring isotopes from a natural abundance source was demonstrated by optimizing the photoionization procedure for isotope selection. It was found that loading method was around four orders of magnitude more efficient than conventional electron impact ionization in the trap. The results show that loading and laser cooling of all the natural occuring isotopes can be achieved without the enriched sources, except in the case of rare species of calcium.
