Izvleček: | Numerical modelling is used to analyse the distortion arising during the multi-pass electron beam welding of a compressor assembly, of the type used for aeroengine applications. A 3D transient weld simulation is carried out using the finite element (FE) code Sysweld. The heating source is approximated using a double ellipsoidal function, and its predictions compared with an analytical expression. The mechanical behaviour of the compressor disc during welding was measured by placing laser measurement equipment in the weld chamber and recording the transient distortion of the disc. Measured transient results are compared to modelled predictions of distortion. Both the transient and final distortion are predicted reasonably accurately. A transient deformation mode is identified which had not previously been appreciated. Copyright © 2013 ASM International® All rights reserved. |
