A CRITICAL-ASSESSMENT OF THE THEORIES FOR LINEAR SWEEP VOLTAMMETRY OF REVERSIBLE ELECTRODE PROCESSES AT A CHANNEL ELECTRODE

The problem of linear sweep voltammetry at a channel electrode, for the case of a reversible electrode process, is considered using two approximate methods for describing the mass transport at the electrode in question. Περίληψη:The problem of linear sweep voltammetry at a channel electrode, for the case of a reversible electrode process, is considered using two approximate methods for describing the mass transport at the electrode in question. These are, firstly, the Singh and Dutt approximation (J. Electroanal. Chem., 182 (1985) 259), and, secondly, a method based on transformation of the solution of the corresponding problem at a rotating disc with a Nernst diffusion layer approximation (J. Electroanal. Chem., 245 (1988) 287). When applied correctly, both these approaches are found to give excellent agreement when compared to more rigorous theory at the level of the Lévêque approximation. The general use of the approximations is recommended. © 1989.
