The free fillet of sole flap can be salvaged from an amputated lower extremity and used to reconstruct traumatic defects in ipsilateral and contralateral lower limbs. End-to-side neurorrhaphy is clinically useful, providing distal reinnervation in the absence of a proximal stump without damaging the donor nerve.
