Based on the result, the species that were caught at UMS jetty water consist of 14
species from nine families; Carangidae (N=4), Leiognathidae (N=3), Lutjanidae
(N=38), Monodactylidae (N=13), Pomacentridae (N=10), Portunidae (N=87),
Serranidae( N=4), Siganidae( N=4) and Sphyraenidae(N =1). Statisticala nalysis was
performed to find the catch differences between the spring and neap tides and between
the day and night period. Chi-Square test, Mann-Whitney U test and Kruskal-Wallis
test is chosen to perform the statistical analysis. Software SPSS version 12 for
Windows is used for computing the Chi-Square test, Mann-Whitney U test and
Kruskal-Wallis test. Species of Charybdis annulata from family Portunidae is the
dominant catch with total 82 catch (50%). The lowest amounts of catch are the
Lutjanus malabaricus and Sphyraena barracuda with total of one catch each. For
spring tide, total number of catch is 79 catch and for neap tide, the total number of
catch is 85 catch. For day period, total number of catch is 83 catch. Meanwhile for
night period, the number of catch is 81 catch. Statistical analysis for spring and neap
tides shows that there are no significant differences in the total amount of catch. For
day and night period, the statistical analysis shows that there are no significant
differences in the total amount of catch. |
