description | Natural wind flow is one of the most effective energy saving methods to improve the
thermal environment at the neighborhood level. The main objective of this project is
to produce a useful anemometer and to measure the accuracy of the anemometer by
comparing the data with Meteorological Department, Sabah. This project presents the
results of wind intensity on selected residential areas in Kota Kinabalu city by taking
30 minutes interval. The wind intensity at a site can be measured by installing
anemometer on top of tower. The 4 cups anemometer used was located 2 meters above
the met tower with the weight of 118g and diameter of 15cm. The analog signal
received by the anemometer is changed to digital signal by using Analog-to-Digital
circuit and the data collected is displayed in computer programming. The data from
some others places are also collected to compare the average of wind intensity in order
to create sufficient wind flow and help achieve energy saving and sustainability
objectives in Malaysia. The experiment had shown that wind velocity is higher during
the day and lower during the night and the wind speed increases with height because
of friction at the earth surface. If you're like most people, many of your leisure
activities depend on the weather, this simple and cheap system can help you to prepare
yourself before doing such activities. |
