description The interaction between genotype and protein level of the ration showed statistical significance at 0.1% level for the all traits studied. In some cases the genotype x feeding source of variation surpasses of the total variance. Similarly, the ranking of the genotypes was not consistent under the different treatments. These results indicate that there is a certain genetic disposition for a different response to changing dietary protein levels in terms of growth. Genotypes ranking high under optimal dietary conditions do not necessarily show the same superiority under poorer conditions and vice versa. Since the genetic constitution of broiler hybrids is based on selection carried out in big poultry enterprises outside Malaysia under presumably different feeding conditions, the local producer of broilers has little clues in choosing the suitable genotype for his feeding conditions, It is therefore suggested that random sample tests of imported strains of broilers should be carried out under varying local feeding conditions.
