scabs atau cankers secara amnya tidak lembut dan seolah-olah pulih selepas mencederakan. Dengan ujian
inokulasi, kecederaan mekanikal adalah ejen tunggal sebab-musabab untuk mendorong kuping dan
kebusukan labu. Diasingkan daripada scabs telah dikenal pasti sebagai Fusarium spp.
